Who We Are

First Christian Church of El Dorado is a family of believers in central Kansas. Our commitment is to follow Jesus and helping others do the same. Jesus gave us a great mission as expressed to Peter: “Come follow me…and I will make you fishers of men.” (Mt. 4:19) We know following Jesus can be a challenge. Building our relationship with God in relationship with others makes it possible. Our motto is to

Come, Grow, and Go. At First Christian we are here to be a place where you can

Come seek out the God of the Bible surrounded by people who care about you,

Grow in your faith, love and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and

Go out in to your world to reach others with the love of Christ and the truth of His Word. In short, we are here to make disciples of Jesus who will in turn, make disciples of Jesus.

WE BELIEVE

- The Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16, 17)

- That there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (II Corinthians 13:14)

- In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His victorious and atoning death, through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (John 5:18; Matthew 1:18-23; Mark 2:5-12; John 1:29; Acts 1:8-10)

- That for salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. That all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory but can have the gift of eternal life when they respond by faith to a relationship with Him made possible by regeneration through the Holy Spirit. This salvation cannot be gained by human effort, but only through God’s grace in the redemption He provided in Jesus Christ, a redemption which is responded to by faith and which leads to a life devoted to obeying God. (Titus 3:3-7; Ephesians 2:8-10; Acts 4:12, Romans 3:23; 6:23, John 3:16)

- In the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God), who is given to believers freely and which enables us to know Jesus, serve Jesus, serve others, and which empowers us to become more like Jesus. (Acts 1:15-16; 1 Corinthians 6:19 20; Romans 8:26-27; Galatians 5:22-26)

- In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ in order to build up the body of Christ and reach others for his kingdom. (John 17:20-26; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:1-6)
